Phil Hellmuth is an American professional poker player who was born on July 16th, 1974 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a student at the University of Wisconsin, but eventually dropped out to play poker on a full time basis. He is nicknamed as the poker brat due to the temperament and personality. His shot to fame came through his amazing game play and he is currently known for holding a record of 11 bracelets of the World Series of Poker Tournaments. Besides that, he also features in the Poker Hall of Fame at the World Series 0f Poker headquarters.
His shot to fame and success started way back in 1989 when he managed to reach the final table at the World Series of Poker and defeated the two time defending champion Johnny Chan in a heads up. His record of a heads up was broken twice in the year 2008 and 2009 when he lost eventually to Peter East Gate and Joe Cada respectively. Phil has earned most of his money through World Series of Poker and out of the 45 final tables, 18 are for a variety of different games played. These include 2 7 Low ball, seven Card Stud, Omaha high Low and many others. He has also played a number of mixed games like HORSE and Poker Players Championship. Of the 18 he participated in different games, he managed to place runners up in five different occasions and hence made a name for himself in all different areas of the gambling circuit. He was not only known for a single type of poker game and tried his hand at all of them.
At present, Phil Hellmuth is ranked 10th on the World Series of Poker list of the top money list. He has made a total of 6 million at the World Series of Poker including all the various cash in games as well. Ultimate Bet has been his official sponsor and they have done all it takes to make sure that Phil Hellmuth gets the best treatment. After he managed to get his 11th World Series of Poker Bracelet he was sent for the 2007 tournament with a race car along with 11 hot models which symbolized each of his bracelets. Next year he was dressed up as a military garb and was supposedly promoting Ultimate Bet. He managed to finish at the 45th position that year.
