As per the latest global poker index, Bryn Kenney has the lead in both overall as well as POY ratings.
His rankings have moved up to the number one position for GPI overall ratings as well as in the race of being 2017 Player of the Year. After success at the PokerStars Barcelona championship event, Bart Lybaert, Stephen Chidwick and Bryn Kenney have gained high positions in the overall rankings. The Global Poker Index is released every week and it showcases the current top poker players in live tournaments. For the rankings the results of players are considered over half year periods taken consecutively six times.
The entire list comes on the GPI official website and the rankings can be found in the last publication that was done on August 23rd. Bryn Kenney gained the title of Player of the Year for the 2017 Global Poker Index for the first half of 2017; this has come about since he remained at the top for 21 weeks consecutively; Nick Petrangelo took the lead in July however, and Dario Sammartino then moved on to claim the number one spot which he has maintained for the past five weeks.
Kenney has become a fore runner in August again due to his performance in the PokerStars Barcelona Championship series. Kenney finished in the seventh position in the Super High Roller event and was runner up in the 8 Handed Single Re-entry game that was held for a single day.
There have been others who have benefited from their performance in the Barcelona event such as Koray Aldemir who gained third position in the Super High Roller event; Pete Chen also gained a jump from 17th to 7th position on the index due to his gains in cash games in Barcelona. Manig Loeser also came to earn a position jump to the tenth position.
